Job Description : ABOUT YOUR NEW ROLE

Sporting News is looking for a creative, strategic and dependable Deputy Editor to join our growing social media team! The Deputy Editor will lead the social media and off-platform content planning and programming, as well as develop content marketing strategies. From original content plans, to sponsored campaigns, this position plays a critical role in audience development and engagement by creating and executing innovative and effective social media initiatives. This position can be done remotely, or in our Charlotte, NC office.


Responsible for planning, developing and executing content distribution plans across platforms
Coordinate with creative and editorial teams on original content for social platforms
Coordinate distribution and packaging plans around major tentpole events
Monitor news and cultural trends across social media platforms
Amplify Sporting News brand voice through content distribution
Manage and understand analytics reporting across social media platforms
Contribute to the long-term goals of Sporting News’ evolving social media strategy
Coordinate with SN global editions on distribution and marketing strategy as needed
Work with external partners on content distribution
Coach team on best practices and use of SN’s style and voice
Plan and execute against social media commercial campaigns as needed
Manage alerts and notifications


Deep and demonstrable knowledge of all major sports
Able to multitask effectively and juggle long-term planning with in-the-moment execution
Ability to analyze data and share learnings from content marketing initiatives
Experience with audience growth and content distribution strategies on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube
Deep understand of social analytics insights
Excellent communication within and across teams
3-5 years’ experience in content marketing or a related field
Previous management experience strongly preferred
Strong leadership skills
