We’re always working to show how powerful small-dollar donors are and talking about how our tools can help campaigns and organizations build powerful grassroots digital programs. Within the team, content specialists are responsible for this messaging across a wide range of work. We are the writers and editors behind ActBlue’s multiple web properties — the website, the ActBlue platform itself, the support website, special occasion microsites, the blog — as well as various internal and external marketing deliverables. We work closely with design and data specialists to tell the story of the small-dollar donor movement in an exciting and accurate way that is accessible to multiple audiences.The Content Associate position is designed for a writer who is passionate about politics, advocacy, and our work of empowering small-dollar donors. The Content Associate will work on content and project-based work, including writing, editing, and coordinating blog and support website content, as well as other web properties and events and marketing deliverables. This person will bring a collaborative mindset and a desire for continuous learning and growth. They will work with the rest of the team to achieve strategic teamwide goals. They will use data to inform and drive their writing and brainstorming and constantly think about their audiences and how best to engage with each one. The ideal candidate will be creative, organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple complex projects at once without dropping any balls.WHAT YOU WILL DO: Own content projects, seeing work through from kickoff to completion and bringing thoughtful questions or challenges to your manager and/or the project manager in order to deliver high-impact work.Write and edit blog posts, drawing on knowledge of the nonprofit and political fundraising spaces in order to deliver value to our users, covering topics such as feature launches, site wide fundraising numbers, and digital strategy.Independently write and edit technical articles for our support website that explain how to use our tools, working directly with Product Managers and Engineers on feature updates.Write and edit marketing deliverables, such as one-pagers, brochures, and related content.Coordinate and produce deliverables for internal and external events as needed.Write and edit content for team wide projects as necessary.Use CMS platforms such as WordPress to publish online content.Copy edit content created by the Communications and Marketing Department, as well as other departments at ActBlue.Bring ideas about how to grow the ActBlue brand to the table.Be a team player and take as much pride in projects you help along as you do in projects you spearhead.WHAT YOU BRING: Proven writing and editing experience, including the ability to write in multiple voices and styles.Demonstrated ability to determine priorities and manage time within multiple projects and work streams.Attention to detail: You copy edit everything at least twice, ensure edits are implemented in every version of a project, know the small details of ActBlue’s brand, and distill meetings or project briefs into notes others can rely on.A clear, compassionate communication style: As a thoughtful collaborator, you ask questions or clarify roles as early as possible, strive to accommodate others’ needs while balancing your responsibilities, and seek other perspectives and feedback to make your work stronger.Proactive thinking: You anticipate others’ needs, plan with relevant calendars in mind, and figure out how to best communicate internally and externally.
