Job Title: Content Developer, Educator and Professional Development Support
Reports To: Executive Editor, Cross-Product Development
Job Status: Full-time position, exempt
Job Responsibilities
Collaborates with Product Management, Professional Learning Services, Marketing, and Content Development to determine content needs related to professional development and educator support to add to the product roadmap based on market assessment.
Works with Product Management and Professional Learning Services to analyze implementation and impact of product-embedded professional development and educator support resources to inform the design and delivery of future product-focused professional learning and support solutions.
Conceptualizes and designs professional development for in-person and online courses ensuring research-based adult learning methodologies and best practices in digital learning design are at the core, in collaboration with other departments.
As in the in-house Subject Matter Expert (SME) on andragogy and professional development creation, works closely with the Curriculum and Instructional Design team to develop adult learning blueprints and learning objectives to implement in the build of digital adult learning and professional development content.
Creates, organizes, and maintains a “library” of professional development e-learning and digital content assets to index all assets based on standards, skills, and other relevant categories and leads efforts to update these content assets as needed.
Oversees the design and build of the professional development and educator support content assets, working in collaboration with other departments throughout the organization.
Leads teams of developers including vendors, contractors, internal Editors and partners to create digital learning content assets, such as scripts, audio, video, interactivities, and more.
Collaborates with cross-departmental team members including Instructional Designers, and Product Design team members along with Engineering team, to ensure that feedback from customers, advisory boards, and results of formative evaluation (user testing) are incorporated in the development and enhancement of content.
Works with the Cross-Product team, Editorial Services, and Editorial Development teams to create and maintain professional development content style guides and process documentation.
Collaborates with Product Management, UX, and Engineering in supporting the design and deployment of products, including conducting or supervising reviews (“QA”) upon release of products.
Collaborates in the identification of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that measure, evaluate, and report on the course effectiveness in all formats.
Monitors and evaluates established resources based on KPIs to assess defined learning goals and makes modifications to content accordingly.
Remains informed about latest research around adult learning methodologies and digital learning technologies as well as latest student and teacher educational standards (domestic and international).
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s in Education, Learning Sciences, Writing, or related field
Publishing experience with digital assets
Experience teaching in K-12 arena or creating K-12 professional learning is highly desirable
5-8 years demonstrated experience leveraging best practices of adult learning to create instructional resources with extensive experience in virtual environments
Excellent written and oral communication skills to all levels within the organization
Excellent critical thinking skills, including identifying implicit assumptions, evaluating arguments, and drawing sound conclusions
Experience with measuring effectiveness with quantifiable tools and resources
Strategic vision of what’s possible while maintaining a strong attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively, and cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
Ability to manage time and meet deadlines
Skillful with technology and adept at learning new technologies.
Schedule and Travel Requirements
Schedule includes regular business hours and may require occasional work on evenings and/or weekends. This position requires ability to travel on occasion in order to attend conferences, trade shows, or meetings.
