Job Description : Web Writer/Editor The Role USC Dornsife is looking for a Web Writer/Editor to help create content for the College’s new website. This role involves writing marketing copy for the website based on our brand guidelines and using WordPress content management system to build final web pages. The position will be remote. This is a part-time, fixed-term position. Requirements Our ideal candidate is: experienced and adept at writing and proofreading marketing copy; meticulous with professional experience using WordPress; someone who accepts and understands editorial direction; and someone with a 4-year degree; an editorial background is a plus. Tasks Write web content based on established editorial guidelines Constructing web pages in WordPress based on established templates Manually migrate content from our old proprietary CMS to our new WordPress CMS Place image assets on pages to match designs Review pages for quality – checking for copy errors, layout glitches and feature bugs Other tasks as assigned Job Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 3 years Minimum Field of Expertise: Experience in communications, content development and writing/editing. Proven knowledge of writing and editing fundamentals. Ability to tailor content to fit targeted audiences. Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to provide detailed information and summaries to peers and supervisors, exercising discretion with confidential information. Experience with digital assets such as image and design files. Demonstrated organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience with content management systems and project management software. Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree Preferred Experience: 5 years Preferred Field of Expertise: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, or other relevant fields. Five years’ experience in communications, content development and writing/editing. Experience in higher education. Demonstrated project management, problem-solving and organizational skills, able to effectively manage numerous priorities, deadlines and necessary resources simultaneously and in a timely manner. Ability to produce quality copy on tight schedules. Materials required for application process: Candidates must submit a cover letter, resume and 4-5 relevant writing samples.
