Job Description : The American Urological Association (AUA), the premier urologic association providing support to the urologic community, is currently searching for a Digital Communications Specialist. This position will have the possibility to telecommute up to 3 days a week.
In General
Working under the Corporate Communications and Media Relations Manager, the Digital Communications Specialist will be responsible for maintaining the organization’s presence, voice and brand on all web platforms. In addition, the position will provide editorial support to the Communications team, as well as interface closely with the members of the Digital and Marketing teams.
Typically
The individual in this position will:
Assist in developing, implementing and overseeing short- & long-term content strategies for the organization’s websites.
Plan and implement website updates, including new and existing content additions, deletions and modifications, as well as integrating approved digital assets (photo, video, audio) within a web-based Content Management System (CMS).
Operate the CMS, including categorizing written and audio/visual content, and optimizing its use.
Train others to use the CMS and to write effectively for the web.
Support the Marketing and Communications team with writing, editing, proofing and developing content, as needed.
Coordinate metrics and reporting.
Measure, evaluate, and improve web content for usability and effectiveness using Google Analytics and similar tools.
Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive social media strategy to promote the organization, its membership/foundation/programs/products/events.
Research, organize, write, edit, publish, administer and maintain effective and engaging content across all organizational websites.
Ensure consistency of messaging across multiple platforms while making each message endemic to the platform.
Develop and expand the organization’s digital outreach efforts.
Drive the web content strategies by helping to establish a thorough and thoughtful content plan, editorial calendar and campaign schedule.
Strategize with the Marketing and Communications team and others across the organization to determine ways web content and social media could apply to current or future initiatives and product/program/event plans.
Act as a digital communications center of excellence to the organization, sharing best practices and providing consultative services to departments on how business objectives can best be met via the web and social media.
To be Successful
Candidates must be collaborative while working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented team environment. It is essential that the individual in this role have time management and critical thinking competencies. In addition:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism or related field required.
Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience.
Ability to apply marketing and communication skills to the web, social media and other online applications.
Strong understanding of working within a CMS; experience with Ingeniux a plus
Basic HTML experience.
Experience in project management and working with cross-functional teams within an organization.
Experience with online monitoring and measurement platforms, including but not limited to, Google Analytics, HootSuite, etc.
Able to build effective working relationships with a diverse group of constituents, including consumer audiences and domestic and international physicians.
