MOHAI is a place and a community of people with histories of successes and failures that: bind us together; amuse, disturb, and inspire us; inform and guide us; and deepen our connection with our heritage.Position: Digital Media Specialist Reports to: Creative Services Director Location: MOHAI Resource Center at Georgetown Classification: Non-Exempt, Hourly, Full-time Schedule: Monday – Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends Rate of Pay: $23 – $29 per hour Benefits: Medical, dental, vision and life insurance and participation in a 403(b) savings plan Position Description: The Digital Media Specialist is responsible for production and management of all content for the museum’s e-communications, social media and related digital communications. This position is also responsible for implementing strategies and content for MOHAI’s digital media tools to reflect the museum’s voice, mission and goals. Additionally, the Digital Media Specialist tracks and reports engagement rates on all digital channels. This position is a member of the Advancement Department.Key Responsibilities: Manage, create and edit editorial copy, with the opportunity to create digital assets/content for MOHAI’s social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Linked In, YouTube, etc. Some design using approved templates or design direction. Provide ongoing management of social media content and other online outlets.Plan and create social media campaigns in conjunction with overall museum exhibits, programs, events, and marketing campaigns. Maintain an awareness of the social media activity of other community organizations and cultural institutions and interact with them when appropriate and beneficial to the museum.Research opportunities for and manage both organic and paid digital campaigns. Work with Creative Services Director, P/R Manager and Advancement team on paid ads and advertising campaigns. Identify strategies and key demographics, etc.Manage all e-communications including History at Home through MailChimp, including bi-weekly e- newsletters and member e-newsletters, quarterly educator e-newsletters, special event e-blasts, member and donor event evites, etc.Work closely with the Advancement team to develop email marketing strategies to increase user engagement and ensure email aligns with other digital communication goals.Ensure that all interactions are culturally responsive, respectful, and based on a foundation of MOHAI’s commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility.Create and maintain an editorial calendar for social media platforms. Ensure high quality, accuracy, and overall consistency in digital communications and social media platforms.Work with other MOHAI staff and departments to promote MOHAI exhibits, programs and services.Work with other MOHAI staff to ensure brand consistency and adherence to written style guide.Conduct live tweeting and posting at events.Support the maintenance of and monitor MOHAI’s digital presence and report trends and feedback.Track and report engagement rates on all digital channels; generate monthly metrics reports, track progress and report achievements quarterly.Opportunity to serve on IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility) Committee.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications: Three or four years of progressively responsible positions in institutional communications and marketing; preferably in a nonprofit setting.Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.Basic to advanced graphic design skills and proficiency with Adobe creative suite, knowledge of how to adapt visual materials for digital content.Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Collegial and able to communicate clearly, concisely, and diplomatically to a wide range of people.Experience working with online media and managing social media accounts for a public-facing institution or organization; demonstrated experience working with CSS, HTML, Word Press, analytic programs (Google Analytics, Facebook Insights) and Photoshop as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Blackbaud products.Team oriented and goal focused. Strong organizational skills.
