Overview:
The Brand & Content group, part of Oportun’s marketing team, is looking for a Director of Content to lead bilingual content development and programming that attracts, engages, and retains customers. This is a new role for a highly motivated, creative individual who has a passion for connecting with consumers and building long-term relationships with customers. They will oversee our burgeoning team of copywriters to support marketing and customer communications across departments.
Responsibilities:
Develop and drive an integrated, bilingual content strategy across channels, including web, social media, advertising, and email to attract, engage, and retain customers.
Establish a content calendar and publication cadence for each channel; partering closely with our product, social media, and public relations teams
Oversee corporate and product messaging, ensuring that they support our brand and resonate with customers
Support the development of customer lifecycle marketing and SEO content generation
Sheperd content publication through editors, business owners, translators, and compliance in English and Spanish, managing relationships with freelancers and related budgets
Serve as editor for customer-facing materials, bringing a distinctive Oportun brand voice to life
Steward Oportun’s verbal brand with voice and messaging guidelines; provide training
Partner with analytics team to test and measure effectiveness of content and make adjustments
Ensure all customer touchpoints are on brand and in voice
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience developing content and capaigns across the marketing mix and the results to match
Demonstrated ability to think conceptually, act creatively, and use words strategically
Well-organized with top project management skills, including the ability to create a detailed plan and orchestrate the scheduling of multiple elements to come together on time and in budget
A penchant for story telling through a variety of media including words, infographics, visuals, videos, testimonials
Excellent writing and editing skills and ability to write in a range of styles, voices, and formats, from long- and short-form pieces to video scripts and social posts
Higly collaborative and able to partner with people different skill sets and perspectives
Proven experience with brand voice, messaging guildelines, and editorial style guides
Understanding of translation, brands, taglines, naming
BA, BS, or equivalent degree required; advanced degree preferred
Fluency in English required; fluency in Spanish a plus
Experience working for financial services, compliance-driven industry, or a multi-cultural company a plus
